The Grid - Your Holistic Habit Tracker

The Grid is a weekly, holistic habit-tracking system that has brought powerful results—both in my own life and in my work with clients. It’s a simple, visual tool designed to highlight patterns and behaviors that may be holding you back, while revealing areas of your life that might be out of balance or in need of more attention. Because it’s been so effective, I wanted to make it available to anyone who could benefit—completely free.

Rainbow Weekly Habit Tracker

How It Works

At its core, The Grid is a weekly goal-setting and habit-tracking system built around six core pillars of wellness—plus two special categories—that together create the full spectrum of a balanced life. Each week, you'll choose six simple daily actions to support your well-being, one for each category. Each pillar is paired with a color of the rainbow, so as you move through the week completing your goals, you’re quite literally building a rainbow each day.

And just like rainbows emerge from clouds, the tone of your day begins with how you start it. That’s why, alongside your daily rainbow, you’ll begin each morning with a dedicated ritual—an intentional moment to ground yourself before the day unfolds. Once completed, you’ll mark it with a white symbol at the top of your column.

The goals you set and the morning ritual you create can be as simple or as challenging as you choose. They can be entirely new habits or things you’re already doing—there’s no right or wrong approach. While the primary intention is to build healthier, more sustainable habits, the deeper purpose is to cultivate awareness of how much attention you're giving to each area of your life.

Pillar

Color

What You Track

Why It Matters

Morning Ritual

White

Your chosen, intention-driven sequence to start the day right

A consistent morning ritual primes you for focus, calm, and intention. Even five minutes of stretching, breathing, and setting a daily intention can shift your trajectory.

Physical

Red

Exercise, sleep, hydration, nutrition

Your body is the vessel for everything you do. Movement, fuel, rest—and even how you breathe—impact energy, immunity, mood, and longevity.

Cognitive

Orange

Learning, reading, puzzles, skill practice

A sharp mind supports problem‑solving, creativity, and mental resilience. Feeding your brain new information and challenges keeps neural pathways robust.

Creative

Yellow

Artistic expression, journaling, play, practice

Creativity connects you to flow states, relieves stress, and unlocks new perspectives. Whether you draw, write, cook, or improvise, you engage deeper parts of yourself.

Financial

Green

Budget check‑ins, saving, investing, spending mindfulness

Money habits shape freedom, security, and stress. Small daily steps—tracking a purchase, reviewing a budget, saving a dollar—compound into long‑term peace of mind.

Environmental

Blue

Decluttering, time in nature, eco‑friendly choices

Your environment influences mood, focus, and health. A clean space and a bit of preparation and planning can make all the different to future you.

Spiritual / Mindfulness

Purple

Meditation, prayer, breathwork, gratitude

Tuning into something larger than yourself—whether through stillness, ritual, or reflection—grounds you, reduces anxiety, and cultivates meaning.

Habits to Curb

Black

Unhelpful habits you’re reducing (screens, sugar, negativity)

Shedding what drains you is as vital as building new habits. Tracking when you resist old patterns reinforces self‑control and self‑compassion.

Why Each Pillar Matters

1. Physical (Red)

Your physical health underpins everything else. When you move your body, eat nourishing foods, stay hydrated, and sleep well, you increase your energy, sharpen your focus, and improve your mood. Even small daily wins—taking the stairs, choosing a salad, drinking an extra glass of water—light up that red square and build momentum toward bigger goals.

2. Cognitive (Orange)

Our brains thrive on novelty and challenge. Learning a new language, reading a nonfiction chapter, solving a crossword, or practicing a professional skill keeps your mind agile. Cognitive habits strengthen memory, bolster creativity, and help you adapt to change—key ingredients for resilience in uncertain times.

3. Creative (Yellow)

Creativity isn’t just for “artists.” It’s a way of tapping into flow, expressing emotion, and seeing the world with fresh eyes. Whether you doodle for five minutes, journal your dreams, cook a new recipe, or dance in your living room, that yellow square celebrates your willingness to play and innovate.

4. Financial (Green)

Money stress is one of the top drains on modern well‑being. By tracking even tiny financial actions—logging expenses, transferring spare change into savings, reviewing investments—you turn vague worries into concrete data. Green squares accumulate into confidence, security, and eventually, freedom to choose how you live.

5. Environmental (Blue)

Your external world shapes your inner state. A cluttered desk can equal a cluttered mind; stale indoor air can sap your vitality. Spend time each day improving your environment—declutter a drawer, open the windows, take a short walk in nature, add a plant. Blue squares signal you’re curating spaces that support calm and creativity.

6. Spiritual / Mindfulness (Purple)

Connecting to something beyond the everyday—whether through meditation, prayer, breathwork, or gratitude journaling—grounds you in presence. Purple squares remind you to pause, reflect, and align with your deeper values. Over time, these practices build inner peace, compassion, and a sense of meaning.

7. Morning Ritual (White)

How you begin your day sets the tone. Your white square might represent five minutes of stretching, a gratitude list, a cup of tea in silence, or a brief breathing practice. That ritual anchors you, so you show up with intention rather than habitually reacting to whatever comes.

8. Habits to Curb (Black)

Every habit you release creates space for something better. Perhaps you’re cutting back on social media scrolling, sugar, smoking, negative self‑talk, or caffeine. Each black square you fill is a victory—proof that you’re choosing health over habit. Notice what replaces those old patterns: often, you naturally fill the space with a positive habit from another pillar.
